Our Community Service Initiative
At Valley Green Naturals, we encourage and support community service and volunteerism. Our employees receive paid time off (up to 40 hours per year) for service work in the community or surrounding areas, stretching from the Blue Ridge and Piedmont region, to Washington, D.C.
Valley Green Naturals is all about making small changes that have a big impact. Our community service initiative encourages team members to take an active role in service organizations of their choosing… whether it’s serving meals to the elderly, cleaning up trails in the Piedmont, or helping out at the local animal shelter, our staff finds a variety of ways to give back to the local community that supports our company.
Valley Green Naturals is a financial contributor to these organizations
Food is our most basic need. Yet thousands of people, including children and the elderly, go hungry every day. At Valley Green Naturals, we contribute financially to the Blue Ridge Area Food Bank on a monthly basis. With your support, the Blue Ridge Area Food Bank will provide healthy, nutritious food to more than 90,000 children, families and individuals every month. Every dollar you give will provide 4 meals! And since they expect to provide more than 16 million meals this year, they need your help! A contribution of only $25 will provide 100 meals, but any donation amount is most appreciated and helpful to those in need. Please visit the Blue Ridge Area Food Bank web site, where you may donate online.
SOME (So Others Might Eat)
For the same reasons we give money and food to help hungry folks in the Piedmont, we also donate funds monthly to SOME (So Others Might Eat) in Washington, D.C. This worthwhile organization helps to restore hope and dignity to folks, one person at a time. They not only feed the hungry, but they also help with housing, clothing, jobs, and just about anything else someone may need to get out of the cold and back on their feet again. Please consider an online donation to SOME, and visit their web site: SOME.org
Piedmont Environmental Council
Valley Green Naturals is a financial supporter of the Piedmont Environmental Council. The people of this important organization work tirelessly to safeguard the landscapes, communities and heritage of the Piedmont by involving citizens in public policy and land conservation.
The PEC’s mission includes maintaining clean air and water, conserving land and open spaces through conservation easements, energy solutions, preserving historic and scenic landscapes, protecting natural resources and small communities, transporation solutions, protecting wildlife habitat and helping to maintain working farms and forestland.
More information, along with a link to contribute to the Piedmont Environmental Council, can be found at www.pecva.org.
Their work includes educating health professionals and community health workers, strengthening health systems, improving the health of women and children, fighting diseases such as TB, HIV/AIDS and diabetes and providing humanitarian assistance through donated medicines, medical supplies and volunteer medical help.
The mission of St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital is to advance cures, and means of prevention, for pediatric catastrophic diseases through research and treatment. Consistent with the vision of their founder Danny Thomas, no child is denied treatment based on race, religion or a family’s ability to pay.
Buying fresh and buying local could never be more important than it is right now, in these difficult economic times.
