The Valley Green Naturals Story
Shortly after 9/11, we left suburban-city-living near Washington, D.C. and moved to the beautiful Northern Virginia countryside. We indulged our desire to be more self-sustaining and began growing our own vegetables, raising chickens and enjoying life on a small hobby farm. After Art purchased a home soap-making kit, we began experimenting in our farmhouse kitchen with natural soap recipes using garden- and locally-sourced botanicals and honey. We sold the soaps locally and found that they were a huge hit.
Valley Green Naturals sources its ingredients locally from Virginia’s Piedmont and the Valley Green Farm whenever possible, and we also support organic farming and Fair Trade suppliers on a global basis. Since the company’s launch in the Fall of 2009, the Valley Green Naturals product line has grown beyond soaps and now boasts over 30 skin, hair and body care products that are free of sulfates, phthalates, parabens and petrochemicals.
A company that operates with a sense of social and ecological purpose, Valley Green Naturals is a financial contributor to local and international poverty alleviation organizations. The company also supports staff volunteerism. Employees receive up to 40 hours per year of paid time off for service work in the community or surrounding areas, stretching from the Blue Ridge Mountains to Washington, D.C.
Valley Green Naturals products are found in five national regions of Whole Foods Market stores, and are in distribution to natural and gourmet grocer chains and online suppliers nationwide.
At Valley Green Naturals, we encourage customers to get in touch with questions or comments about products and service. Customer feedback is what drives the continued excellence in product quality and customer service from Valley Green Naturals.
